Megaworld Corp. has partnered with Thailand-based mobility technology startup ViaBus to launch an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered real-time transit tracking application for its Citylink shuttle service, as it expands digital mobility initiatives across its integrated townships.
Megaworld has introduced an AI-powered real-time transit tracking application for its Citylink shuttle service, allowing commuters to monitor vehicle locations, estimated arrival times, and route information across selected townships.
Developed in partnership with Thailand-based mobility technology company Via Group (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the ViaBus mobile application is initially available across seven Citylink shuttle routes serving Newport City in Pasay City, and McKinley Hill, McKinley West, and Uptown Bonifacio in Taguig City. The company said it plans to expand the platform to Eastwood City in Quezon City, Southwoods City in Biñan, Laguna, and Boracay Newcoast in Aklan.
The initiative forms part of Megaworld’s long-term strategy to integrate digital innovation with sustainable transportation as it works toward transforming its Metro Manila Citylink fleet into a fully electric shuttle network.
“Promoting efficient and sustainable mobility has become an important part of what makes our townships continue to thrive,” Megaworld estate management head Don Earl Caagbay said.
“By combining electric mobility with AI-powered digital technology, we are creating a transportation system that is smarter, more reliable, and more sustainable to make daily life more convenient for our residents, office workers, visitors, and the communities we serve, while also advancing our long-term sustainability goals,” he added.
According to Megaworld, integrating electric vehicle shuttle buses with the ViaBus platform is expected to encourage greater use of shared transportation, reduce reliance on private vehicles, ease traffic movement, and help lower carbon emissions across its townships.
“This initiative demonstrates how digital innovation can make everyday mobility more convenient and more reliable. When transportation becomes easier to access and more predictable, more people are encouraged to experience and function within efficient and sustainable communities,” Mr. Caagbay said.
ViaBus enables passengers to view the real-time location of the free Citylink shuttle buses, estimated arrival times, and route guidance through a mobile application, allowing commuters to better plan their trips within Megaworld’s townships.
According to Via Group Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder Intouch Marsvongpragorn, the platform was designed to address uncertainty in public transportation.
“People often don’t know when their bus will arrive or what transportation options are available. We believe that if people could see where their ride was and receive reliable information in real time, their journey and their lives could become much easier and more convenient,” he said.
Via Group currently operates its real-time transit platform in Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines, serving more than 10 million users. Mr. Marsvongpragorn said the collaboration with Megaworld, supported by the Royal Thai Embassy in Manila and Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion, marks the company’s expansion into the Philippine market.
